Buddy Walk
This is our only fundraising event each year. We host the one-mile walk that promotes understanding and acceptance of Down syndrome. The day includes lunch and a T-shirt to all those who register. We accept monetary donations, pledges, sponsorships, and raffle items for this event. All people who have Down syndrome receive a medal when finishing their walk. The day also includes other fun things to do such as jump houses, dance competitions, music, washable tattoos, current information on Down syndrome, local mascots, and a huge raffle. Community groups such as the University of the Pacific’s Baseball Team, Port City Roller Girls, local Girl Scout troops, Host Lyons Club, and the United Way have all volunteered and helped out on this special day. Annually, we give 7% of our income from this event back to the National Down Syndrome Society for their research and advocacy efforts..
