Missing boy with Down Syndrome, family dog, happy ending

Scary, the thought of my child wandering off.  My son used to wander when he was younger.  When we purchased our home, we thought about if our son would wander would he be safe?  Would he wander far?  How could we keep him from wandering?  A parent's worst nightmare.  Even worse when your child has a special need like Down Syndrome.

I read about a missing little boy on Facebook.  I reposted the story about a missing little boy in Australia that had Down Syndrome.  Read below about this little boy and how his family dog helped searchers find him safe and sound.

A FAMILY'S pet dogs helped keep safe a four-year-old Down syndrome boy who went missing overnight on NSW's mid-north coast.
Cold and covered in scratches, Riley Martin was found sitting on the ground in bushland near Shelley Beach just after 7am today.
He and his three pet dogs - two fox terriers and a kelpie - hadn't been seen since midday yesterday when he disappeared from his home in Nambucca Heads.
A couple from Kempsey saw an appeal for assistance on NSW Police's Facebook page and immediately drove to the area to help with the search.
They found Riley this morning with one of his dogs.
"We heard a dog bark, we almost stood on him," the unnamed couple told the Nine Network.
"He was covered in scratches and cold."
A man ran down a nearby street yelling "we have found him" to the boy's mother Bianca.
Footage of an emotional reunion showed Ms Martin grabbing hold of Riley and collapsing to the ground.
"Has he had water?" she asked.
"He's been through the bush. Those dogs kept him alive. Words can't describe it."
The boy was checked by paramedics and taken to Macksville Hospital as a precaution, police said.
Police, emergency services workers, volunteers and neighbours had scoured the area around Riley's home until Wednesday night. Local police kept searching overnight.

Pupdate. Puppies, puppies, puppies everywhere. 7 weeks

Puppies, puppies, puppies everywhere!  I can not believe how fast time has flied?  And the puppies are growing so fast.  I really have to admit that we all spend so much time playing with them and just watching them, everything else, including house work, is getting ignored.  Yes, the kitchen is a mess lately.  There is clean laundry piles that need to be folded and put away.  But, who cares?  It is too much fun loving on these wonderful puppies.

I hope you enjoy these photos as much as we did taking them.  And it is really hard to get a good photo of these wiggling pups.  Yes, there are little pieces of foam in their ears to support the ears standing while the pups are growing so fast.

A couple of these babies are still looking for their forever homes.  Please contact me if you are interested.

Pupdate. Puppies, puppies everywhere! Six weeks old

Puppies, puppies everywhere.  It doesn't seem like six weeks has gone by since our home was excitedly invaded by our Peruvian pups.  We are so in love with this crew of happy, healthy Peruvian babies.

Check out our family web site HERE to learn more about the breed and photos of our other Peruvian Hairless dogs.

Right now, sit back and enjoy these critters.  Special thanks to my wonderful, talented friend, Sheila Avalos for the updated pictured of the Peruvian Crew.

Pupdate, puppies puppies everywhere. 4 1/2 weeks

Our Peruvian pups are 4 1/2 weeks old.  They are getting so big, funny and love to see how much mischief they can get into.  They are wiggling, growling, wagging their tails, and just so silly.  We have put tape on their ears to help support their ears, so they will stay up straight.  The tape does not irritate them and we just leave it on for a little bit and check their ears several times a day.

Hope these pics of our babies bring a smile to your face.

Pupdate Three weeks of puppy piles

Our Peruvian pups are three weeks as of yesterday.  They are amazing.  Their eyes are open, they are walking and talking (well growling, moaning, and little barks).  We spend way too much time just playing with them.  This is great for the puppies but not so much for keeping the house super clean.  LOL.

Please enjoy these pictures of our little darlings.
